5 Easy Patriotic Foods

The Fourth of July is coming up! Here are some easy Patriotic foods you can make with help from the kids. I used just simple things I had in the house already but I've listed what ingredients are needed below. Feel free to change it up to make life easier. There are no rules! Cole had fun using a mini star cookie cutter on the fruit and then used a pumpkin carving knife to cut up the scraps of fruit.

1. Red, White & Blue Cookie Sandwiches
What you need:
Chocolate chip cookies
Marshmallow Fluff
Red and Blue sprinkles (I had red sprinkles but no blue. I took some silver sprinkles and dropped 3 drops of blue food coloring in then mixed it. Tada! Now I have blue sprinkles.)

Put a good amount of fluff on a cookie and sandwich it with another. Pour your sprinkles in small bowls. Dip half in the red sprinkle bowl and then the other half in the blue, leaving a bit of white in between. I'm keeping mine in the fridge because it is hot and the fluff was starting to melt!

2. Mini Kebab Wands
What you need:
Toothpicks
Blueberries
Strawberries or watermelon
Tiny star cookie cutter

Cut the strawberries or watermelon into quarter inch slices. Cut out star shapes with your cookie cutter for the topper. Thread 3 blueberries on the toothpick and then top with the star fruit shape. An adorable little wand! Perfect for snacking.

3. Red, White & Blue Crackers
What you need:
Ritz crackers
Cream cheese
Blueberries
Strawberries or watermelon
Tiny star cookie cutter

Spread a dollop of cream cheese on a Ritz cracker. Cut the strawberries or watermelon into quarter inch slices. Cut out star shapes with your cookie cutter. Top the cream cheese with a blueberry and a fruit star. Make a plate of them for easy appetizers.

4. Graham Cracker Flag
What you need:
Graham Crackers
Cream Cheese or cream cheese frosting
Blueberries
Strawberries or watermelon

Coat a graham cracker with cream cheese or cream cheese frosting. Place 6 blueberries in the top left corner. Cut strawberries or watermelon into small slices. Place the slices horizontally to make red stripes.

5. Fireworks Marshmallow
What you need:
Marshmallows
Red and blue sprinkles
Marshmallow fluff
chocolate chips

Spread marshmallow fluff on the top of a marshmallow and a little over the top sides. Dip in your red or blue (or both) sprinkles. Top with a chocolate chip. YUM!
