Best Birthday Presents for a 4 Year Old

You may have seen my post about 5 things that Cole had on his birthday wish list but of course, we got some more things and I just wanted to list them all here in hopes I could give someone help because I sometimes struggle with what to buy, especially for other people's kids. Cole's friend's birthday was last week so we went to pick out a few things for him and of course Cole wanted those items too.

I am an amazon affiliate so this post contains links to amazon and if you purchase through my links, I may receive a small commission.

Fake Pets are way better than real ones!
We got this pet guinea pig and Cole named him Squiggy. I added the noodles that you can build with by dampening the ends and adding together as the bedding and got a little reptile cage to put it in. The amount of imaginary play going on with this little guinea pig is amazing! He's been naughty and Cole has cleaned up after him and he takes him to the vet, the park and tucks him in.

Leaf Blower
I scored big and found one at Dollar General for $15. Cole was upset that it didn't actually blow leaves....lol Here's the one we were originally going to get.

Tonka Grader
My husband picked this out and it was a huge hit. "A big beast!" - Cole We have other Tonka equipment and it's really well made so tends to last without breaking. It's worth the extra money.

Paw Patrol vehicles
Cole's aunt got him a bunch of Paw Patrol vehicles and he had a blast playing with them.

Sand Art Kit
Another gift from his aunt that was fun to do. We made two today outside. It came with a cute little funnel. I'm thinking of gluing the top on so he can't dump it out everywhere.

Walkie Talkies
We got this set of three that is supposed to work up to 3 miles away. I can't wait to try it. Next time I go to the store down the road, I'm going to bring them!

Legos
Cole got two sets of legos from his aunt and cousin. Since I don't have the patience to build them, other people have to. We bought a small set for Cole's friend's birthday last week.

Building blocks
These are really cool from the Target Dollar spot. They stack or click together and came from Cole's aunt.

Books
New books are always fun! Diggersaurus and for some reason we didn't have the Little Engine that Could! I can't even believe it!

Spray Chalk Paint
$3 at Dollar General and it is SO cool! We bought some for Cole's friend but he really wanted some so I went back a few days later and picked one up for him. It takes a little getting used to for little hands and fingers.

Cars and Trucks
Cole's friend loves trains but we couldn't find any cool ones. We found a monster truck that looks like a train for his friend. We got some Disney Cars cars from O'Reilly's, our favorite spot to find some rare ones. They are all only $5.99. Online they run 10-15 each! He also loves hot wheels and matchbox cars so of course, he got some of those too! You can never have too many cars!

Rain Boots
Shark ones that light up of course! I couldn't believe all of the other patterns they had. So many to choose from for boys and girls.

Sneakers and Crocs
Kid's shoes are expensive since they grow out of them so quickly. Why not make them a birthday present? Cole had been asking for camo crocs for 3 months

Cutting Practice Book
Learn to cut on the lines. Cole really loves cutting so this book is perfect to try to follow lines.

Play Doh
You really can't go wrong with play doh. It's one of the few activities that keeps Cole busy for up to an hour.

Arts and Crafts
Coloring books, crayons, paint and paper are always a hit. There's nothing better than using a brand new crayon for 2 minutes before breaking it! We also love the crayola stampers and color wonders.

I hope these ideas help you shop for your favorite 4 year old!
